VINE GROWTH CYCLE-SPRING BUDDING

VINE GROWTH CYCLE-SPRING BUDDING

abr 09, 2018

Spring awakes the grapevine from its dormancy period. Sap rises up along the plant and by now we can already see the first buds starting to break, marking the beginning of its new anual cycle.

The soil is tilled and treated to eliminate harmful insects and to aerate it for a better growth of the roots; in this way the grapevine is reactivated and the first signs of life occur.

The new buds will grow on the canes left after pruning until they become leaves.   Each grapevine variety has its own vegetative cycle and therefore at the vineyards not all the plants will be at the same physiological stage.

Initially, the buds fed from the plant reserves and during the next months this will grow vigorously.

The process for this year vintage continues.
