June draws to a close in Rioja Oriental by consolidating a historic year of accolades for our winery. Today, we are proud to share a major international milestone: our Tunante de Azabache Tempranillo 2025 has been awarded an outstanding 94 points at the 2026 Decanter World Wine Awards.

This recognition from the world's largest and most influential wine competition (whose silver seal is proudly displayed in the image junio.jpg) reaffirms the immense potential of our young red wines and the value of hard work in Aldeanueva de Ebro.

Tunante de Azabache: A Rioja Tempranillo with Winning DNA

The Decanter World Wine Awards (DWWA) are globally renowned for the strictness of their blind tastings. Nearing 95 points with a wine as fresh, fruity, and dynamic as our Tunante Tempranillo is a true achievement.

The international jury rewarded the typicity of our flagship variety, highlighting its balance, its liveliness, and that explosion of red fruit so characteristic of our land. For Fincas de Azabache, this award proves that excellence is also found in the purity and freshness of young wines crafted with top-tier standards right from the source.

How is the Vineyard in June? Flowering and Fruit Set

This great international acclaim would not be possible without what happens day in and day out in the soil. June is the key month for the physical birth of the grape cluster in our vegetative cycle, a period marked by two crucial phases that we monitor through precision viticulture:

• Flowering: The vines open their tiny flowers. It is a moment of maximum sensitivity in the field, where the vineyard requires sunny days to ensure proper pollination.

• Fruit Set: The pollinated flowers transform into small green berries, giving life to the future clusters of the upcoming harvest.
