We already know that the harvest is a crucial moment in any winery, a time when patience, tradition, and care come together to produce the wines we cherish.

At Viñedos de Aldeanueva, in the heart of Rioja Oriental, the 2024 harvest is marked by a couple of particularities that make this campaign a year to remember.

The rains of recent days in Aldeanueva de Ebro forced us to pause the harvest for a short time. Nature, always unpredictable, reminded us once again that patience is a virtue in viticulture. However, the waiting period is over, and today, Monday, September 9th, we have resumed the harvest with vigor, focusing on the white varieties of Verdejo and old Viura vines. These grapes, nurtured in our vineyards with the same care and dedication as always, promise to bring the freshness and characteristic nuances that we love in our white wines.

This week, we plan to complete the harvesting of all white varieties. Despite the weather interruptions, the quality of the grapes is exceptional, and we already have finished wines in the cellar that reflect the essence of this year. The combination of experience and technology allows us to process the grapes with precision, ensuring that every bottle of wine is a true reflection of the terroir of Rioja Oriental.

One of the most unique features of the 2024 campaign is the start of the red grape harvest, also today, Monday the 9th, with the Garnacha variety. This is particularly interesting because traditionally, the harvest begins with Tempranillo, a practice that hasn’t changed in the last 20 years. This year, we have decided to start with the early Garnacha plots, which have a low alcohol content, ideal for the production of our rosés.

The choice of Garnacha as the first red variety of the season reflects how we adapt to the changing conditions of each year, making the most of the particularities of each variety and plot. These rosés, which we craft with care, are recognized for their freshness, liveliness, and balance, and we are excited to see how they develop with this new approach.

Although this year has presented its challenges, it has also brought unexpected opportunities that we have embraced with enthusiasm.
