Viñedos de Aldeanueva S.Coop. starts harvest 2020 next Monday 17th with the White Tempranillo variety. The harvest is carried out at night, when temperature is at its lowest, starting with the reception at the winery at 6:00 am. and finishing by 10:00 am.  These grapes are processed at Fincas de Azabache, property of Viñedos de Aldeanueva, destined to the elaboration of Premium Wines.

The alcoholic content of this variety reaches 12º en several plots, which is requested to obtain more fruit and freshness in the wines. The plots are picked selectively according to their level of ripeness and we expect to receive  around 100.000 kg  We estimate this harvest will be a long one, even with breaks, due to the evolution inequality in the vineyards.

This year 2020 in Aldeanueva de Ebro was rainy during the growth cycle and so we had to redouble efforts at the vineyards to avoid sanitary problems with the grapes. The whole growth cycle took place earlier of the usual dates, interesting to note that by the end of February we already saw in some areas bud breaks.  From the implantation of White Tempranillo, harvest in the D.O.Ca Rioja has been forwarded because of  the very short growth cycle of this variety.  Meanwhile varieties like Viura and Verdejo still need a few more days of ripening.

In this moment we find very healthy grapes and a good quantity in the vineyards. Luckily the last storms did not affect our area and we continued with an ideal dry weather and major temperature range between day and night. 

Concerning the red varieties, we estimate to harvest in about 15 days if the evolution of the ripening is adequate with the Tempranillo Tinto.
