We start the new year with two gold medals in the “Concurso Mundial de Tempranillo” held in London this past December 2017. A competition conceived, as the Organization explains, to show the qualities of “the most relevant autochthonous variety  on the Spanish wine scene” to “the most important, mature and demanding market, the British.”

Two wines from our winery, Fincas de Azabache: the Tempranillo 2017 and the Crianza 2015 Selected Harvest, were awarded with a Gold Medal  in this contest that counted with the participation of  28 denominations of origen and a total entry of 578 samples of wines elaborated with this grape variety and among which, 30% of wines from our denomination, obtained silver, gold or great gold medals; proving a clear dominance of the Rioja wines.

As the Organization highlighted, the awards given by “a selected jury of specialist tasters, distributors, sommeliers and oenologists, all with a wide international renown, asure that the awarded wines will benefit from a greater recognition and prestige from the consumers”.
