INTRODUCING OUR FIRST RIOJAS 2024
The "Primeros Riojas" event held on November 7, 2024, in Aldeanueva de Ebro marked the official start of the 2024 wine season.
This exclusive event, which annually gathers wine professionals and enthusiasts, featured notable figures, including the Director General of the Consejo REguladro de Rioja, Jose Luis Lapuente. Attendees included representatives from the FER’s Rioja Hospitality Industry Association, the Rioja Winemakers Association, the Rioja Sommeliers Association, Cofradía of Rioja Wine, the Rioja Oriental Wine Route, and the ADR Rioja Oriental Rural Development Association.
The presentation was moderated by journalists Oscar Briñas, commercial director of Grupo de Comunicación Promecal, and Rubén Laparra, well-known as the host of Renques on 7TV Rioja. Thanks to their expertise in the communication field, they brought a professional yet approachable tone to the event. During their introduction, they discussed the challenging conditions of 2024, a year marked by both climate and production-related obstacles for the wine industry.
Guests had the chance to taste the first wines of the 2024 vintage from Aldeanueva de Ebro, a town celebrated for its rich winemaking tradition and significant contribution to the Rioja Qualified Designation of Origin, accounting for around 10% of the region’s production.
The event showcased new 2024 vintage wines from 12 local wineries, including our own cooperative, Viñedos de Aldeanueva S.Coop., which introduced its Fincas de Azabache Coscojares Viñedo Singular—a Garnacha made from old vines—and Fincas de Azabache Tempranillo Blanco, both wines embodying the emblematic varieties that define our region’s identity.
