The latest edition of the Decanter World Wine Awards (DWWA) 2024 took place in London, reaffirming its position as one of the most prestigious wine competitions in the world.

This contest, known for its rigorous evaluation process and highly qualified panel of judges, attracted producers, sommeliers, and wine experts from around the globe, highlighting the excellence and diversity of global wine production.

DWWA 2024 brought together more than 250 judges, including 70 Masters of Wine and 23 Master Sommeliers, who dedicated several days to blind tasting over 18,000 wines from 56 countries. This year, the competition was especially diverse, with notable participation from emerging regions that are beginning to make their mark on the world wine map.

The results of this edition were impressive, with several wines reaching the highest accolades. Spain, France, and Italy continued their reign as leaders in the production of high-quality wines, earning a significant number of platinum, gold, and silver medals. Spain impressed with robust reds from Rioja and Ribera del Duero, as well as fresh Albariños from Rías Baixas.

In addition to rewarding quality, DWWA 2024 also placed a strong emphasis on sustainability and innovation in viticulture.
