FINCAS DE AZABACHE GARNACHA GOLD IN BRUSSELS
The 31st Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, one of the world's most prestigious international wine competitions, concluded a few days ago in Guanajuato, Mexico.
The results have just been announced, and Spain remains one of the leading wine-producing countries, with more than 31% of the medals.
The Concours Mondial de Bruxelles 2024 took place from June 7th to 9th, featuring a wide participation of wines from around the world. This prestigious competition, divided into several sessions throughout the year, evaluates red, white, rosé, sparkling, and fortified wines, renowned for its rigor and recognition in the global wine industry.
The world's largest traveling wine competition brought together in Mexico experts from the international wine sector to taste nearly 7,500 white and red wines from 42 countries around the world. These experts (buyers, journalists, wine merchants, winemakers, etc.) represent 45 nationalities and taste the wines presented in the competition blind. The only information they receive about the wine is its vintage. Only 30% of the wines presented receive a medal.
"It is a true satisfaction to have been able to gather so many wines for this latest edition, despite the complicated global context. This demonstrates that producers continue to trust us, and we feel privileged for it," says Thomas Costenoble, director of the CMB.
Spain wins seven Grand Gold Medals and positions itself as an expert in organic wines, with Rioja being the region with the most medals (81), and also the most represented. It is followed by Castilla y León, with 49 awarded wines, and Navarra with 26.
These awards reflect the high quality and international recognition of Spanish wines, reaffirming their prominent position in the global market. And we couldn't be more proud that our DOCa Rioja Fincas de Azabache Garnacha Crianza is among the most outstanding wines and has received the Gold Medal in this demanding international wine competition.
The next edition of the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles will be held in Ningxia, China, in 2025, continuing the tradition of celebrating and evaluating the world's best wines in different regions.
